Jeff Setz Memorial Scholarship

The Jeff Setz Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school student who plans to pursue a career in education. The first scholarship was given at the New Berlin Eisenhower Senior Awards Night in May 2018.

Jeff Setz was a legendary figure at New Berlin Eisenhower. He spent his entire 36-year teaching career in the New Berlin Public Schools as a mathematics teacher and over 40 years coaching many athletic teams.

Under Setz, the Eisenhower Lions football team compiled a 134-71 record, qualified for the WIAA state playoffs 17 times, and won the school’s first ever WIAA State Championship, winning back-to-back state championships in 1995 and 1996.  But he also led the Eisenhower softball program to more than 400 victories, 14 conference titles, 6 sectional crowns and the 2008 WIAA Softball State Championship!

Coach Setz was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007 and posthumously into the Wisconsin Softball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2017. In 2019, he became an inaugural honoree in the New Berlin Eisenhower Athletics Hall of Fame.

He was an inspirational leader who was able to get the very most out of his students and student-athletes. Jeff made a positive impact on countless students and student-athletes in the Eisenhower and New Berlin communities. His memory lives on with the naming of the Jeff Setz Field, and in the awarding of Jeff Setz Memorial Scholarships.
